MRS. MCGOWAN INVITES YOU TO:
Reviewed By: A. Ford
“Before he was Batman, he was Bruce Wayne…” In a book that defies expectations, author Marie Lu takes a classic and well known character and gives him a far from ordinary end to his childhood. With mysterious murders, court ordered community service, and the "Nightwalkers" turning the city upside down, being eighteen is far different than Bruce Wayne expected. This book is action packed with amazing characters and the lines between the light and dark, what’s right and wrong, beautifully blurred. No one is who they seem to be and sometimes the biggest relief isn’t knowing that the enemy is behind bars but knowing that they’re still free. As someone who isn’t a huge fan of DC and certainly not an avid fan of Batman I can say that this book was amazing and it will definitely be one that I read again and again. Why? This isn’t a book about Batman at all. It’s about an eighteen year old boy named Bruce Wayne and the trouble he finds himself in when what he’s told is the truth is far from the whole story.
